![]() ![]() Make sure the file type dropdown (next to the file name box) is set to either "All Files (*.*)" or "All Word Documents (*.docx *.docm *.dotx *.dotm.There are two things you must do in that dialog: ![]() That means using the File > Open dialog instead of the File > New dialog. To fix it, you must open the Normal.dotm file itself to convert it to Word 2010 format. This is usually the result of upgrading from an earlier version as opposed to a clean install. When Word 2010 creates all new blank documents in Compatibility Mode, that means your Normal.dotm template (the one used as the base for new blank documents) is in Compatibility Mode. I found this in a post on Microsoft's website: One way to solve files you do create is to make sure you go to Save As, and then make sure you choose the correct option, which should be Word Document. This file is the template for blank documents so if it's set to compatibility mode, this is why you are getting it. So, from what I see is that when you create a new document, that document is in compatibility mode (before you save it)? If so, then it sounds like the normal.dotm file is in compatibility mode. ![]()
